Forest rights of small farmers
and professionals
Since colonial laws on property speculation
Souss
is one of the most important material basis of history and civilization of our
country in connection with the development of socio-cultural movement in
Morocco. This has characterized the civil life of man north African and
European south. The documentation is, through the names of forest and pastoral
communal lands, the Atlantic coast, the Atlas mines, sources of water, the
boundaries between tribes, acts of land properties ..., an important historical
monument in civilization at the top and Anti Atlas in southern Morocco, which
is taken by the amarigh character. All this had pushed the French colonialism
to base its operations in the Souss, traves to land tenure, water and natural
resources by hand shod and fire, aim to take down the collective ownership of

colonial class, between 1912 and 1938, to legitimize the violation of forest

civilization in our country through the cancellation of documents of local
collective and private property.
This policy of the colonial class resumes its continuity by other new ways to holdings since late 1956 to protect the interests of colonialism. Small and poor farmers and forestry professionals are oppressed, their revolts crushed by repression and their detained leaders every time they claim their right to land, water and natural resources.
Land and Guessima Mesguina in Agadir have suffered massive violations by colonialism, the policy was renewed in 1956, and intensified after the Agadir earthquake in 1960. Within the National Union of small farmers and forestry professionals, we declare:
1- Our denunciations and condemnations of abuses, repression, detentions, mock trials and imprisonment of small and poor farmers, forestry professionals and laborers, aimed forfeiture of their right to land, water and natural resources.
2 - Our denunciations and condemnations of land mafia in Souss Agadir in general and in particular, occupying lands and Guessima Mesguina through land speculation supported by the Wilaya of Souss Massat, the Regional Inspectorate of Housing and Spatial, municipalities and the agency of land conservation in Agadir.
3- Our unconditional solidarity with all the small and poor farmers, forestry professionals and oppressed farm workers in the Souss, the State is charged with the responsibility for violations of their legitimate rights.
4- Our rejection of the laws of the colonial class and operation of the Wilaya of said community representatives for the interests of land speculators, requiring the state to create adequate laws to collective ownership and ensure the right to development, work and adequate housing for small and poor farmers, forestry professionals and laborers.
5- Our demand to the government to open negotiations with our union on the situation of land and Guessima Mesguina a democratic way just to make the rightful owners. And limit land speculation in a way ensuring the development as indicated by International Law.
6- Our preparation and the load to the ongoing struggle for the recovery of right of peasants and Mesguina Guessima by any form of legitimate struggle.
We call the small and poor farmers, farm workers and forestry professionals to participate in the program of the struggle of our union on the issue of collective lands, which cover almost 20 million hectares. This program will be reported to the regional congress of both Souss Massat and Guelmim Wad Noon, in the presence of the national office January 2, 2016 at the headquarters of the Agadir UMT.
